Recovery Update July 2023

As I pulish these posts, I hope that a future natural disaster survivor will find this blog and find comfort in my words. It is a long and tedious journey with lots of setbacks and small steps forward. You can’t lose hope, you have to keep up the fight.

Persistence

As of today here is what has been completed:

-house has been 100% rewired

-windows on order

-front door and garage door replaced

-back wall for kitchen peninsula in place (so electricians can run line for range and place outlets

-one window closed up and hole cut for new window in master bedroom

-plumbing rough in (I need to find/order shower surround today)

-garage wall installed

-garage door on order

-partially insulated in certain rooms

-one bedroom has been fitted with insulation and some drywall to provide us with a cool, quiet, comfortable spot to sleep and to hang out on weekends.

-roof/soffit/fascia/gutters have been installed

As far as the administrative side of this goes, our Public Desk Adjuster has made contact with FIGA (Florida Insurance Guaranty Association) and they are in negotiations to close the claim.

In the process of trying to apply for the SBA Disaster Recover Loan, I discovered that our 2021 tax returns were never received by the IRS. I resubmitted the, and I am still waiting for our Account Transcript to be updated, so I can resume the application for the SBA loan.

We are so fortunate that we have the General Contractor that we do. They are kind, courteous, compassionate, understanding, and they CARE how we feel about things. They CARE that we live here. They are piecing this project together as our funds come available. I am forever grateful to them.

That’s about all that I have to share on the house update, I will update again in a month.

If you are living a disaster recovery nightmare right now and need some moral support, please reach out – I am here for you.

Lots of Love,

Marie
